The portrait is a constant through out the history of art, dating back thousands of years and taking many form;drawings, paintings, sculpture and eventually, photography. There are many approaches to take when creating a portrait, in the choice or application of the medium or in the pose and environment of the subject. Throughmyeyes is a sequence of faithful reproductions of a child's innocence, capturing the ability to see beyond simple appearance and expression to reacquire a truly free and unbiased view. The goggles are protecting the kids from the altered viewer's way of seeing. It is their impertinent answer to our constantly distorted ability to distinguish reality from fiction. Our sobriety impedes us from seeing behind the subject right in front of us. Personal development comes only when we are able to alter our perception, muddled by adulthood. The painting has its own reality. It is on us to see through, to arrive at the truth of meaning with the lightness of a child and let him have a deep impact on us.
